CARBON+ CREDITS DE-RISK YOUR FARM TRANSITION
Overcome challenges, transform your farm
Our Carbon+ Program supports
your transition to regenerative agriculture.
Carbon+ Credits provide financial support during the transition and beyond.
The result? A resilient, profitable and healthy farm business that stands the test of time.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE?
Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that seeks to restore and enhance farm ecosystems. By transitioning, you can increase your profits, improve your land, and enhance your quality of life.
High-quality food production and increased margins for your produce
Soil organic carbon capture
Amplified resilience against drought
Increased farm profitability and reduced operating costs
Better water quality & retention
Increase in profits after six years
Litres more water per hectare for every 1% increase in organic matter
Yield increases during periods of extreme weather

WHAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY
From the farmers, for the farmers
“Out of 475 hectares on the farm, I only have access to water in about 250 ha. Now that I can invest in a water network with my Carbon+ earnings, I can pump water up the hills. In doing so, I’ll be able to make the farm more resilient, use the land economically and at the same time regenerate the paddocks.”
— Manuel Troya, Pajaretillo
“It’s not just about the program. It’s also about the people. I’ve had the chance to find a community where we all have the same passion. If you fail a few times, you’ll give up. So having financial and social support is so important.”
— João Valente, Monte Silveira Bio
“Since I started applying regenerative techniques, I’ve increased the number and diversity of animal species on the farm, and my profits have increased. My soil health has improved dramatically, and I observe more biodiversity. I regularly welcome journalists and visitors and have started selling my products to butchers and chefs in Lisbon, including a Michelin-star restaurant.”
– Francisco Alves, Porcus Natura
PRACTICES THAT GENERATE CARBON+ CREDITS
From cover crops to agroforestry, there are countless ways to generate Carbon+ Credits.
Adaptive multi-paddock grazing
(multi-species) Cover crops
Reduction of fossil fuel usage
Organic matter application
Reduced/ no synthetic fertilisers
No-till /minimum till
CARBON+ CREDITS ARE FOR YOU IF…
You fit these criteria
HOW DOES THE CARBON+ PROGRAM WORK?
You implement your projects. We do the rest.
HOW THE PROCEEDS OF CARBON+ CREDITS ARE DISTRIBUTED
Mitigating risks while increasing your reward
- 5% is stored in a permanence buffer in case things don’t go as planned.
- 15% is stored in a project buffer to account for any risk of reversal. This is paid out at the end of the 10-year period.
- 80% of the carbon credit proceeds are paid directly to you on a yearly basis.
- 35% is Climate Farmers commission for the project development, monitoring, issuance, and sale on the voluntary carbon market.

CARBON+ CREDIT FAQs
When will I receive revenue from the carbon credits?
Carbon+ Credit payments are issued on a yearly basis. After one year from your enrollment in the program, we monitor and calculate the actual value of carbon captured in your soil.
This will then be provided to the registry, a platform that tracks and manages the issuances of carbon certificates. As soon as the verification process is complete, the credits are sold.
The process takes approximately 12-18 months from the project’s start date.
How do you calculate how many tonnes of CO2 are captured?
The amount of CO2 captured is calculated by combining a scientific standard open-source soil carbon model (RothC) with estimations of soil carbon inputs resulting from the use of different farming activities as well as estimations of other sources of greenhouse gases (methane and N2O).
These estimations are based on formulas from up-to-date literature and accepted norms (e.g. IPCC standards). RothC has been validated with real-world data for different climatic zones and land use types and is implemented conservatively to ensure the reliability of the produced data.
What are Carbon+ Credits for farmers?
Carbon+ Credits from agriculture are created based on the CO2 you draw down from the atmosphere and store in your soil. You can generate revenue by adopting additional regenerative management techniques that sequester carbon. Carbon+ Credits are sold on the voluntary carbon market to forward-thinking organisations that want to support your transition to regenerative agriculture.
What is the difference between the voluntary and regulatory carbon market?
Our Carbon+ Program operates in the voluntary carbon market.
The two carbon markets, regulatory and voluntary, are separate entities with different objectives, prices, participants and rules.
The regulatory carbon market is driven by government regulations that require companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. On the other hand, the voluntary carbon market is driven by organisations and individuals who voluntarily choose to invest in carbon credits to support regenerative agriculture and their sustainability goals.
What is necessary to participate in the Carbon+ Program?
To participate in the program, we first need to understand if your farm is suitable for our model. To do that, you first complete our online form with some basic information about your farm.
If your farm meets our requirements, we’ll send you an online questionnaire. Here, you enter information about the ownership situation of the farm and your current and planned practices as part of your regenerative transition. This will allow us to estimate how much CO2 will be sequestered and how many carbon credits you will likely generate.
If you decide to participate, you will go on to sign a contract.
