Project Description

CAFAMORE aims to develop an EU-wide parcel-level monitoring approach for carbon farming to harmonise and automate data collection, quantification, and baselining. The project will deliver a spatially explicit registry, support robust certification schemes, and build a transparent carbon farming marketplace.

By combining Earth observation data, soil datasets and models (e.g. SOC stock changes, woody biomass, N₂O emissions), CAFAMORE will provide reliable MRV tools that reduce administrative burden for land managers and support both voluntary and regulatory climate action — including CSRD reporting and Tier 3 GHG inventories.

Seven pilot countries across diverse climates will test the tools in real-world conditions.

Our project activities

We build and maintain multi-actor Working Groups to integrate solutions across stakeholder needs and support the implementation, monitoring and certification of carbon farming. We ensure that relevant actors are aware, well-equipped and ready to advance scientifically sound carbon projects. In collaboration with our partner SAE, we coordinate communication and dissemination actions that enhance the visibility of CAFAMORE. We also foster a close and productive collaboration with other EU and international projects.
