❍ Holistic management
Challenges so far
-
Sales: after the war in Ukraine, people are more afraid, and put less budget into local reg. food
- Mainly regulatory struggles (exp.: bad experience with regulations regarding a chicken tractor imported from Australia)
Outcomes so far
- Lots of public interest in the farm
- Increased water storage capacity
- Increases in insect and wildlife
- Increase organic matter
- Less heat stress
Learnings of their journey
- Start small
- Focus on the team
- Take more time for planning and research about climate, region, market
- Do not impose ideas to the land, instead of listen to what the land needs
“The idea is to share our experiences with people who are starting or do not have experience with agriculture yet. The opportunities to learn on a regenerative farm are not so easy to find that’s why we think it is important to give others the chance and grow our regenerative farming community”
— The reason why Gut Haidehof decided to become a training farm
Future ambitions
Integrate many more trees
Expand land to keep cows
Construct pond for irrigation
Integrate different types of animals
